Guidelines


Now that you know what we’re all about, you might want to know the guidelines. For those of you who’ve joined the Web Awards before, we’ve made a few changes so be careful not to skip this. For newbies to the Web Awards, read on. In here you’ll learn what is needed to be able to join the Web Awards, the process, the different categories, the criteria for judging and basically all you have to know to win this thing.

Requirements

So you’ve decided you want to join the 10th Philippine Web Awards. You wouldn’t be browsing this page if you didn’t. Check out the requirements we’ve outlined below, If you have all that, you’re good to go.

Eligibility

  • The representative of the entry submitted must be the site owner or developer (a.k.a. representative).
  • The representative should have the site owner’s consent.
  • The entry must be a legitimate Web site.
    A Web site is a collection of Web pages that either has its own domain or resides within a hosting service (such as a free hosting service). Single Web pages and site sections are not qualified. Sub-sites (such as sub.domain.com or www.domain.com/sub) can qualify as "stand-alone" sites if they have their own site structure and are explicitly distinct from the primary domain as to purpose, nature and content.
  • It must be owned and developed by a Filipino.  
  • In the case of a company or organization, majority must be owned by Filipinos. Global site templates (such as those of transnational companies with local partners) that are not developed by Filipinos are not eligible.
  • The entry must not contain illegal or offensive material; it must not display pornographic materials, call for terrorist acts and other forms of violence, and insult or condemn religious beliefs and other cultures
    The entry must not be plagiarized in terms of content and design from a copyrighted source, such as another Web site.
  • The entry must be accessible to the general public. Intranets are not qualified.

Submission and Payment

Fill up an online entry form and submit it upon completion. Incomplete entry forms will not be processed and forms bearing false information will be disqualified. Late entries will also not be processed.

Pay the necessary entry fee of P250.00 ($5) for Blogs, Organization and Personal category, or P2,500.00 ($45) for other categories on or before the deadline. Late payments will not be processed, but payments made on or before the deadline that have been collected or confirmed after will be processed.

Reminders: Make sure that you put the entry in the right category. Entering in the wrong category can get you disqualified. The entry will not be processed until the correct entry fee is received by the organizers. The entry fee is non-refundable, and it is also forfeited in case any of the terms and conditions is violated. In cases where there is an insufficient number of entries or where all entries in a category fail to meet the minimum standards set by the judges, the organizers reserve the right to merge or dissolve categories at anytime before the final judging period. For certain categories to be identified by the organizers, the representative must submit a test or demo account for sites that require a username and password.

Screening and Judging

During the duration of the judging period: 

  • No major changes should be made to the site. Only content updates (text and images) are allowed.
  • The entry must be hosted in the same domain name originally submitted (requests for change of URLs are allowed).
  • The representative must hold the Philippine Web Awards organizers and its partners free from any liability.
  • The judges have the final word on the results and the representative must abide by the final outcome of the Awards.

Publicity
Once you’ve joined, you must agree to post text, buttons, banners, or other online marketing materials on the site entry to help promote the People's Choice Awards and promote the awards night.

You must also agree to allow the Philippine Web Awards organizers to use the site's name, URL, and screenshots for publicity and promotional purposes.

Disqualification
The terms and conditions of the contest published in the Philippine Web Awards Web site must be followed at all times.

Understand that if any of the terms and conditions is violated any time during the process, the entry will be disqualified and the entry fee will be forfeited. If it is proven any time within thirty (30) days after the announcement of winners that the entry has violated any of the terms and conditions, the winning entry will be invalidated and the entry fee will be forfeited. The award will be given to the entry that garnered the second highest average score in the category.
